Laughing Bear in Freedom Square (part 2) Tbilisi
Koba became part of Pavilion as a reponse to the first laughing bear interventions. Taking the hand and the lead of laughing bear he led Charlie through the streets of Tbilisi, from Freedom Square to Parliament Building.
Koba was part of the street audience who had come to get to know the artists by hanging around in the Square and drinking tea at the ‘Tea Stop in Freedom Square’ (Pavilion). As we got to know him it became apparent that he was a ’stateless’ refugee from Abahazia with no papers, sleeping rough near the Square. On the following days he took the DIY bear costume and performed his own laughing bear, traversing the city’s underpasses, shops and streets..
